Constellations

Design Core Detroit

Installation during Detroit Month of Design at Eastern Market after Dark and Light Up Livernois, 2019.

Create your own constellations by connecting the stars! Imagining new connections doesn’t change the stars; it changes the way people read the sky.

In Praise of Dust

“Dust as an element cannot claim the glory of light, the subtlety of air, the solidity of earth, or the vitality of water, even though it envelops the galaxies, circles planets, and hides in the bedroom of kings and queens.”
                                          -Joseph A. Amato

Shelters and camps are meant to be temporary. It seems architects have enabled the typology to become permanent or at least appear to be. Recognizing that the larger, long-term solutions are political, not architectural, the project focused on altering the perception of refugees by local populations, and offer an alternative to the informal settlement and the refugee camp. A hidden network of refuges will aid migrants and refugees to reach their desired final destination.

A complimentary website for the project was made to aid in the process of locating and acquiring a given refuge.

"The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears, or the sea."
                        -Isak Dinesen

To devise a public artwork that generates clean energy and/or drinking water at the breakwater site at the Santa Monica Pier. We have realized from our preliminary research that producing energy would not be an efficient and advantageous function on the site. Given the climatic conditions and the professionals we talked with, the team decided to focus on the challenge of providing clean water.

A Modest Proposal

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) claims that there are 3,079 animal and 2,655 plant species endangered worldwide. The growing economy can further their investments in other endangered species to introduce exotic produce and capitalize on an increasing population surplus. The created artificial milieu will not be home exclusively for the tortoises. There will inherently be complimentary species that share such an environment. This will further the authenticity of the milieu which tortoises are accustomed to.

Endangered Communities Act

Proposal to simultaneously protect endangered species and endangered communities. Redirecting proposed New International Trade Crossing through the Michigan Ginseng Act.
